Prepare Your Neurobiology Before the Moment Arrives
“The moment feels like the test.
It isn’t.
It’s the grade.
The test was everything that came before.”
The Story Behind the Science
Not a near-miss in traffic. Not a difficult shift. Christopher Larson, DO — a man who had spent two decades mastering the preparation of his patients before the demand arrived — sat with a different kind of choice. Long enough that it stopped feeling like a crisis and started feeling like a plan.
“I had spent two decades mastering the preparation of my patients before the demand arrived — pre-loading fluids, managing airways, anticipating physiology, stabilizing trauma before it became crisis. I had applied almost none of that discipline to my own system. I gave everything outward and called the depletion virtue.”
What followed was a framework tested not in a lab, but against a marriage under strain, five daughters who needed their father present, and a career demanding peak performance from a depleted nervous system.
It held.
“The gap between who you want to be and who you show up as is not a character gap. It is a preparation gap.”
“Your biology doesn’t respond to the world as it is. It responds to the world as you predict it to be.”
“PRE►LOΔD will not make hard things easy. It will make you different before hard things begin.”
The Science
Your brain is not a camera. It is a Bayesian algorithm. These three models explain why the same event destroys one person and elevates another — and what you can do about it before the event arrives.
Your stress response is not determined by the actual threat you face. It is determined by the meaning your brain assigns to that threat. Crum et al. (2013) demonstrated that a mindset shift alone reorients the complete hormonal cascade — cortisol down, DHEA up, performance sustained.
“Your stress is about meaning, not the threat itself.”
Happiness is not determined by what you have. It is determined by the gap between what you have and what you expected to have. You can be objectively successful and subjectively miserable — if your prediction engine has been anchored to an even more impressive standard.
“Your happiness is about the gap, not the achievement.”
Your baseline expectations — the invisible standard against which you measure everything — are not chosen by you. They are downloaded directly from the people physically around you. Christakis & Fowler (2008) traced this effect through three degrees of social separation.
“Your sense of ‘normal’ is borrowed, not chosen.”
The Convergence
“Burnout is not a character flaw. It is what happens when your prediction engine consumes itself — when the gap between expectation and reality becomes so large, so persistent, and so invisible that your biology begins to interpret every day as a threat to your survival.
The path out is not willpower. It is clarity.”
— PRE►LOΔD, Chapter 1
From the Manuscript
“You had me before hello.
I didn’t have words for it then. I just knew it when I saw it. The person who walked into a room like the room had been waiting for him. Not arrogant — that’s the wrong word entirely. He just didn’t seem to need anything from it.
The moment was just where you saw the result. The work had already been done.”

“An attitude of gratitude is something you hold.
An aptitude for gratitude is something you build.”
— Chapter 5
“Gethsemane was not the beginning of His preparation.
It was the proof of it.”

“Children that age read authenticity with devastating accuracy.
She wasn’t wrong.”
— PRE►LOΔD, Preface
“Don’t be a Prisoner of Prediction.”
— Chapter 6: The Ledger
“You’ve been trying to win in the arena. The arena was decided before you walked in.”

Heart Rate Variability
HRV is the most accessible real-time biomarker of prediction engine health available to consumers. The PRE►LOΔD protocol builds HRV tracking into the daily cycle — not as biohacking, but as clinical intelligence.
Heart Rate Variability — HRV — is the variation in time between consecutive heartbeats. Despite the name, you want it high. A heart that beats with slight natural variation is governed by a well-regulated nervous system: one that can shift fluidly between activation and recovery. A heart that beats with mechanical regularity is running under sustained load with reduced adaptability.
Consumer wearables now measure HRV continuously during sleep. The Oura Ring, Garmin, Apple Watch, WHOOP, and Polar chest straps all produce reliable trending data. A single reading means little — what matters is the trend. A number that declines over five or more consecutive days is a biological signal worth paying attention to before adding more cognitive demand.
From the Book
“Tracking HRV is not biohacking. It is the physiological equivalent of checking the weather before deciding what to wear — accurate data about the current state of the system you are about to ask to perform.”
📉 PRE►LOΔD App tracks your HRV trend daily — currently free, on any device.

The Architecture of the Whole Person
Luke 2:52 — Jesus increased in wisdom (Intellectual), stature (Physical), favour with God (Spiritual), and favour with man (Social). The oldest four-element framework, encoded two millennia before neuroscience named it.

What Ancient Wisdom Always Knew
“The Lord does not create reactively. He does not improvise under pressure. He prepares the spiritual reality before the temporal moment arrives, and the temporal moment unfolds from that preparation.
PRE►LOΔD, at its deepest level, is not a human framework modeled on divine wisdom. It is a human practice modeled on divine method.”
— PRE►LOΔD, Chapter 1: The Blueprint
“The fMRI studies, the cortisol assays, the HRV measurements — these are science reading the first lines of a text whose full length it has not yet seen. What the research has documented is the visible edge. The covenant reaches further than the instruments can currently follow.”
